ABOUT
The landscape paintings and collages relate to ramblings along coastal paths in the north east of England. The work may be read as a place described in sequence, mirroring walks and historic terrain revisited over a period of time. There is the sense of these sites acting as a release for a particular kind of response freed from the strictures of working life, a kind of reverie.
The story board project reverses the filmic process, and uses teachers' chalk to draw out the latent discourse between the actors. The series correlates with scripted moments in a play, but the intention is to disavow the simple object of illustration by representing the emotionally charged dynamic between a parent and her child.
